What You'll Be Doing

Health and Human Services is looking for a Pharmacy Technician to join #TeamWake!

The Pharmacy fills outpatient prescriptions for Health and Human Service Clinic patients and Mental Health clients in Wake County. The Wake County Health and Human Services Pharmacy assists the public with prescription services and provides medication counseling as requested for eligible clients of Wake County Health and Human Services. This includes those being treated for Tuberculosis, various sexually transmitted infections, HIV, mental illness, women’s health clinic and prenatal services, and children needing medications.

The Pharmacy Technician will be working directly in the Pharmacy as a PTCB Certified Pharmacy Technician or will obtain PTCB Certification within the first year of hire.

Essential job functions include :
  • Interact with patients and staff over the phone or face-to-face to process orders (some Spanish speaking)
  • Assist pharmacist in entering, billing, and filling prescriptions accurately for clients and clinics
  • Process medication orders and transfer requests
  • Order medical supplies, medications and immunization materials
  • Manage multiple medication inventories (i.e. 340B)
  • Work the register to complete dispensing transactions
  • Reconciles cash drawers, transfers deposits and change orders to billing
  • Assist with public health emergency needs as directed

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

  • High school diploma or GED
  • No specific experience required
  • North Carolina Board of Pharmacy - Pharmacy Technician Registration
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification within one year of employment
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted
