Description:

The Adult Protection Services Caseworker performs journey level casework for a variety of identified areas including conducting home and community visits, to assess allegations of adult abuse, neglect and exploitation. Duties of this position include assess situations for safety and risk; make referrals to community and system-based services; create case plans; monitor progress of specific cases, documenting case information; and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and other resources for services and supports. Depending on the assigned program additional responsibilities include investigate allegations of adult abuse, neglect and exploitation; determine placement when necessary to ensure safety; work with extended family to create safety and support plans; attend court hearings, prepare court reports and testify when necessary.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $64,000.00 - $64,052.56 USD Annual

Compensation will be determined based on education, experience and skills.

Work Schedule: In-office training is required, followed by the eligibility for Personal Choice Model (combination of office and remote work). This is initially a Monday-Friday position with the flexibility of working Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday once training is completed. There is flexibility in start and/or end times.

Essential Duties:
  • Assess allegations of adult abuse and neglect. Gather background and collateral information. Make referrals to community or system-based services. Prepare court reports, provide court testimony and attend hearings. Create case plans.
  • May conduct home and facility placement visits. Communicate community agencies and attorneys for reports and consultation. Document all case information and progress in the State CAPS system and case files. Establish goals and deadlines to meet goals. Visit monthly with adults to assess for safety and well-being.
  • Collaborate with various community partners, resources and agencies to meet all state requirements for adult protection outcomes.Work with multi-disciplinary teams, supervision and meetings to ensure the best action is taken. May participate in agency, community and State workgroups and committees.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimal Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree with an equivalent of thirty (30) semester or forty-five (45) quarter hours in human behavioral sciences or health care related courses, such as, social work, sociology, psychology, psychiatry, gerontology, nursing, special education, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures, therapeutic techniques, guidance and counseling, criminal justice, or other human behavioral sciences or medical field relevant to the APS program and/or at-risk adults.
  • Professional, internship, or volunteer work experience in a human services related agency.Some examples of appropriate experience could include: clinical experience, milieu experience, domestic violence case manager, paid victim's advocate, paralegal or legal clerk, probation officer, law enforcement, corrections work, shelter experience, arbitration, forensic interviewing, para-professional work, educational work, and/or other case management experience.
  • OR any combination of education and experience.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365
  • Experience entering and tracking datain databases and software programs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work well with diverse and different personalities.
  • Proficiency in processing paper and electronic records per established records management protocols.
