The Dallas County Public Defender’s Office (DCPDO) is the second oldest Public Defender’s Office in the State of Texas and the first of its kind. The Office is one of the largest Public Defender Offices in the State of Texas and has been recognized as a model for new Public Defender Offices throughout the State. The Office takes a holistic approach to criminal defense in order to benefit society and its clients. The ideal candidate will foster an environment for defenders who are passionate, skilled, and ardent client advocates. Qualified candidates have graduated from an accredited law school and should possess seven (7) years of experience practicing criminal law. Candidates should possess, or have the ability to possess within one year, a license to practice law in the state of Texas and should be a member of the State Bar of Texas.
The annual salary range for the Chief Public Defender is $216,000 - $239,400; placement within this range is dependent on qualifications and experience.
