Summary

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
Deschutes County Health Services supports over 400 staff in Behavioral and Public Health programs working to promote and protect the health and safety of the community in a broad variety of community-based settings.

Deschutes County Behavioral Health (DCBH) is the Community Mental Health Program providing safety net and core clinical services for community members in Deschutes County dealing with mental health and substance use conditions. DCBH is also a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). As such, DCBH relies on multi-disciplinary teams to provide innovative, evidence-based, recovery-oriented services in behavioral healthcare settings co-located with physical health providers.

ABOUT THE JOB:
Deschutes County is currently accepting applications for a Behavioral Health Specialist I, Young Adults in Transition (YAT) Case Manager on the Intensive Youth Services team. This position provides case management services to under-supported youth and young adults in our community who have identified mental health and/or substance use disorders. The incumbent will provide support and advocacy in collaboration with therapists, peers and medical providers as part of a multi-disciplinary team for individuals with multiple needs.

Duties include but are not limited to facilitating skills training with youth and young adults on an individual and group basis; assessing needs and performing care coordination; providing case management and supportive services throughout the Central Oregon area; participating in team meetings and case consultations where strengths and needs are identified, and safety planning occurs; assisting/supporting behavioral health professionals; and providing for continuity of care. Services are provided in clinic and community settings, including home and school, and are delivered face-to-face and telephonically.

This position requires travel throughout Deschutes County including Bend, Redmond, Sisters, and La Pine.

Compensation

$5,055.17 to $6,774.40 per month for a 172.67 hour work month. Salary normally starts at the first step. Excellent County benefit package when eligible. This union represented position is available immediately.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral sciences field;
  • OR any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge to perform the essential functions of the job.
There are registration/certification requirements under the Mental Health and Addiction Counseling Board of Oregon (MHACBO) that apply to Qualified Mental Health Associates (QMHA) hired by Deschutes County Health Services (DCHS). Preferred Qualifications :
  • Experience working with adolescents, young adults, and families in a mental health setting.
  • Experience providing case management and procuring services and benefits from a variety of community resources.
  • Experience working with electronic health records and systems.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.


Necessary Special Requirements

Driving is a requirement for this position. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license within 30 days of hire date. The employment offer will be contingent upon presentation of an acceptable and verifiable driver's license, pre-employment screening for criminal history, driving history, and controlled substances (NOTE: Positive test results for marijuana use may result in rescission of a contingent offer of employment). This screening must be completed with satisfactory findings in order for a formal offer of employment to be extended.
