The City of Chandler Community Services Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Recreation Specialist at the Chandler Nature Center. The position is regular, part-time, and scheduled to work 35 hours per week.

Who we are looking for
Our new team member will be passionate about customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are looking for someone who will connect Nature Center guests with our established programming. In addition, our employees must demonstrate excellent customer service and communicate effectively with participants, visitors, co-workers, and supervisors.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

• Complete administrative work to support staff, such as maintaining facility schedules and updating programming calendars
• Register participants for recreation programs and complete park pavilion rental bookings
• Responsible for gift shop inventory, financial records, vendor communication, and budget monitoring
• Supervise temporary staff and their assigned duties, such as animal care, program registration, and daily facility tasks
• Complete work order requests for facility equipment and maintenance issues
• Receive, verify, process payments, balance daily revenue receipts, record payments, and issue refunds
• Opportunity to plan and lead community recreation and environmental education programs with a STEM approach, focusing on botany, desert ecology, and environmental science topics.

Minimum qualifications
• A High School Diploma or GED; and
• 2 years of experience in a youth recreation or adult activity program; and
• A First Aid/CPR Certification upon hire or promotion; and
• A valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Desired qualifications
• Associate degree or Higher Education
• Experience and knowledge of environmental education and programming
• At least 1 year of office and clerical experience
• At least 1 year of experience in parks and recreation or a related field

This is a regular part-time position , subject to a 6-month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available.

The City of Chandler will conduct a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and a driving record check as a condition of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results.
