Summary

About the Role:
The primary function of the Custodian position is to clean and maintain the interiors and exteriors of various offices and facilities at the West Point Treatment Plant and its offsite facilities. This is a great opportunity for an individual who likes a variety of work, working with a diverse team that supports the Operations and Maintenance of the West Point Treatment Plant and offsite locations.

King County protects water quality and public health in the central Puget Sound region by providing high-quality and effective treatment for wastewater collected from our local sewer agencies. We collect and clean wastewater while recovering valuable resources for a healthy and resilient Puget Sound. Job Duties
What You Will Be Doing:
  • Strip, wax, and scrub various types of floors; vacuum and extract dirt from carpets and machine-buff floors.
  • Clean, stock, and sanitize lunchrooms, restrooms, and elevators including tables, chairs, toilets, showers, sinks, and walls; clean glass windows and surfaces.
  • As directed, mix and use cleaning solutions and chemicals.
  • Dust, wash, and vacuum surfaces; e mpty trash.
  • Request and stock various types of supplies.
  • May research and prepare bid specifications for cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
Minimum Requirements:
  • Knowledge of basic janitorial cleaning techniques
  • Knowledge in the use and care of cleaning equipment
  • Knowledge of basic safety rules and procedures to ensure the safety of yourself and co-workers.
  • Knowledge of basic cleaning chemicals
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to demonstrate behaviors that include fairness, respect, and inclusiveness.
  • Ability to work effectively with others in a work environment that embraces and encourages diversity in its workforce and where differences are valued.

Supplemental Information
Working Conditions:
  • Work Location: West Point Treatment Plant - 1400 Discovery Park Blvd, Seattle, WA 98199 and offsite locations.
  • Work Schedule: This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible.
  • Union Representation: This position is represented by S.E.I.U. 925 (Wastewater Treatment Division).
