What You'll Be DoingThe Economic Services team serves the public in a rewarding role that helps our community receive the crucial needs they must have to live happy healthy lives. We aid individuals and families in need by providing evaluation for health care during pregnancy and delivery, evaluation for Medicaid, health care and medicines for families with children, evaluation for Food and Nutrition Services for families and transportation. We are currently seeking an Economic Benefits Technician to join this hard-working team and start making an impact in our community today.
As an Economic Benefits Technician you will be able to utilize your research skills, face to face customer service skills and troubleshooting expertise. Our Economic Services staff enjoy working together to help the public and are given the opportunity to provide back up support to our customer service and front desk staff when needed.

Primary job duties include:
- Submitting applications into NC FAST
- Assisting with interviewing clients
- Researching cases in NC FAST and On Base and referring client to the Eligibility Caseworker on duty for the Family & Children Medicaid or Food & Nutrition Services Programs
- Answering general questions via phone, email, or in person
- Scanning documents into On Base
- Helping clients complete application, if needed
- Troubleshooting problem areas for clients
- Making referrals to appropriate resources

The Basics (Required Education and Experience) - High school diploma or GED
- One year of experience in human services
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) - One (1) year of experience in health and human services programs
- Fluency in Spanish
- NC FAST experience
- On Base experience
- Excellent customer service skills
How Will We Know You're 'The One'? - Knowledge of and/or ability to learn Economic Benefit Programs policy
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel
- Exceptional customer service skills
- The ability to listen, react and respond appropriately to others, and professionally assist emotional clientele
