Duties Description
Under the supervision of a Maintenance Supervisor 3 or designee, the candidate will work within the regional plumbing, water, and wastewater department executing semi-skilled tasks, and assisting on water/wastewater operations on an as-needed basis. Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Read and understand written material and instructions.
• Perform monitoring and testing procedures on potable water and wastewater systems.
• Assist with the installation and repair of plumbing fixtures.
• Assist with the replacement and repair of water, sewer, natural gas, and propane supply lines.
• Assist with chlorination and sanitation activities.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on all assigned hand and power tools to ensure they are in good working order and in compliance with applicable codes.
• Maintain daily activity reports along with other required written records.
• Perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Understand and carry out instructions.
• Obtain necessary certifications required to execute assigned duties.
Additional Comments
OPERATING NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• Must possess or obtain a valid Grade 1A Wastewater Operators Certification as a term and condition of employment.
• Must be available to work a variable schedule that includes weekends, holidays and/or evening shifts.
• Must be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor.
• Must be reliable, flexible, and willing to work in a team setting.
