This position may be filled at one of the three levels based on knowledge, skills, and abilities. The entry salary is posted above, with the Intermediate starting salary of $56,712.48, and a Senior starting salary of $61,249.44.

The Missouri Department of Transportation, (MoDOT) is seeking a motivated individual who is technically curious and creative to add to our Data Service Management team. The Information Systems Technologist performs activities in the areas of DataMart/Interface development and maintenance, including program debugging, problem diagnosis/resolution, communication, and documentation. Responsibilities are performed under direct supervision.

What you’ll do:

  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain both new and existing ETL application development using primarily Informatica, Linux scripting, SQL, and Oracle/Sql Server databases.
  • Research emerging technologies, explore industry trends, relational database knowledge, connectivity and interactions with in-house and remote systems in support and development of new and existing applications using relational databases or varied input-output files.
  • Monitors DataMart/Interface load activity, analyzing and diagnosing problems, and assist with implementing solutions.
  • Assists in coordination and planning with department personnel to recommend solutions for current or future application needs and systems compatibility issues.
  • Prepares application documentation, including user manuals, operations procedures, and technical and testing documentation. Provides information and status updates to supervisor, leads and partners. Strong verbal and electronic communication skills are essential.


All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • 60 credit hours toward a related Bachelor's Degree, or
  • Associate’s Degree: Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field, or
  • High School Diploma or GED/HiSET, and two years of experience in computer systems, repairs, and operations


Special Working Conditions:

  • Job requires occasional, statewide, overnight travel.
  • Hybrid telework option may be considered after a successful probation period. Full-time telework is not available.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding SQL and Relational Databases (Oracle/SQL)
  • Experience working with DBMS, Reporting, and ETL Tools
  • Knowledge of APIs and FBDI (file-based data imports)
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong work ethic and team player
