Job Description

Distinguishing Features of the Class

The principal function of an employee in this class is to lead the WRF equipment maintenance functions of the Wastewater Reclamation Facility and to work closely with others to plan and coordinate inventory and equipment maintenance using a computerized maintenance management system.

Acceptable Experience and Training

  • Graduation from an accredited institution with a certification in EAM/CMMS computerized management systems; and
  • Five years of experience working in a mechanical or electrical maintenance field under a certified apprentice or journeyman trades program; or
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Required Special Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid State of Iowa Motor Vehicle Operators License.
  • Candidates for this position will be required to pass a post employment offer physical examination and background check.
  • Possession of an Iowa Grade II Wastewater License within 12 months of appointment.

Examples of Essential Work (Illustrative Only)

  • Leads a crew in the maintenance and repair of pumps, motors, valves, pipes, heat exchangers, air compressors, heating equipment, and other major mechanical and hydraulic equipment.
  • Troubleshoots equipment failures.
  • Designs, fabricates and machines equipment parts.
  • Maintains time and equipment records in a computerized system.
  • Plans the daily scheduled work tasks, identifies resources and skills required, materials needed and work steps necessary to complete the job.
  • Performs other duties as directed.
