Job Description

This Engineer position will be part of the Technology Projects Program Management Team and will lead large and above-average complexity, moderate to high visibility and sensitivity, and fundamental to Metropolitan’s core business initiatives, with a significant civil or geotechnical component. It may feature procurement and installation of equipment to support Metropolitan’s water treatment and water distribution systems. As the Engineer, you will have to coordinate with internal and external customers; identify and coordinate environmental assessments and documentation; prepare reports; and provide regular input and updates related to the capital improvement program system. You will provide project management expertise on engineering projects to ensure compliance with Metropolitan’s standards of quality, efficiency, and technical integrity.

At times you will as assist or lead the preparation of project proposals; perform and/or direct plan and scoping studies; obtain project funding and authorization through the Board letter/Board presentation and management approval processes; monitoring and controlling project scope of work, progress, schedules, budgets and delivery of multiple capital improvement projects updates to the Board/senior management.

Schedule: 9/80, 44/36, Monday through Friday /Every other Friday off

Hybrid: Metropolitan’s current practice in this position is a hybrid work schedule. This typically includes two days a week in person and the other days remote. This is subject to change dependent on organizational needs. In addition, a telework policy is scheduled for negotiations and once completed and implemented, will provide final direction on the hybrid schedule.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and six years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Associate Engineer level; OR Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Associate Engineer level.

Relevant Experience is defined as: Experience in project management AND/OR design, AND/OR construction of multi-disciplinary projects related to reservoirs, slope erosion, dam rehabilitation, AND project management AND/OR design management duties in the selection, procurement, AND/OR installation of equipment AND/OR rehabilitation of facilities in the water, wastewater, power AND/OR oil/gas industries.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s):

• Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
• License in good standing as a California Professional Engineer (required at time of application).
