Job Description

Full-time position available with the Aviation Department, Operations Division located at 1 Kansas City Blvd
Salary Range: $5,794-$8,833/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Rotating days and hours

Responsibilities

  • Conducts airfield inspections in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulation Part 139.
  • Serves as incident commander for all aircraft emergencies, fuel spills, terminal and landside emergencies while coordinating with local, State, and Federal agencies.
  • Monitors wildlife and acts accordingly as outlined in the Airports Wildlife Hazard Management Plan.
  • Coordinates all airfield and landside snow removal operations. Reviews construction plans for future construction projects and monitors construction projects for safety.
  • Maintains FAA required documents, such as Airport Certification Manual, Airport Emergency plan, Snow and Ice Control plan, Wildlife Hazard Management Plan, SMGCS Plan, and Security Manual.
  • Responds to and resolves tenant requests.
  • Issues notices to Airmen regarding airfield conditions.
  • Monitors weather and coordinates notification to all tenants of severe weather.
  • Coordinates evacuation of terminal buildings during severe weather threats and fire alarms.
  • Supervises on-duty Airport Operations Agents.
  • Monitors airfield operations for safety to include perimeter inspections, monitoring of aircraft activities, tenant apron operations, fuel and fuel farm operations, and environmental concerns.
  • Performs required tasks and special projects assigned by the Manager of Operations.



Qualifications

REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience in airport operations, airport regulatory compliance, or oversight of building and/or construction operations at an airport; OR High School graduation and 6 years of experience airport operations, airport regulatory compliance, or oversight of building and/or construction operations at an airport.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
