Job Description

Job Location: This position will be located at This position will be located at 1410 Genessee St. Suite 136, Kansas City, Missouri 64102. Our core office hours are 8-5PM Monday-Friday. Hours can vary due to 1/2 or 1 hour for lunch break. (Flexible scheduling may be available). This is not a telecommuter position at this time.

As a DHSS employee within the Section for Long Term Care Regulation, you will get to work in a position that provides clerical support for various staff supporting regulatory functions in long term care facilities. You’ll love being an essential part of keeping the office organized and high functioning. We are seeking individuals who are committed to high quality work and enjoy a challenging and progressive team environment. This position requires independent decision-making, critical thinking skills, working with confidential matters and customer service skills involving contact with a variety of internal and external customers.

What you’ll do:

  • Assist in the day to day operations of the Region 3 office.
  • Complete correspondence timely and efficiently assuring correct usage of grammar and spelling, and save to an electronic system.
  • Learn to process paperwork per the electronic process.
  • Assist staff in securing hotel, state and rental cars as needed.
  • Answer phones/route calls/take messages in a professional manner.
  • Data entry following survey inspections and complaint investigations.
  • Assist with inventory and and ordering office supplies to assure there are supplies on hand.
  • Reviewing and processing monthly expense reports for staff, and other duties as assigned.


  • All you need for success:

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Possession of a high school diploma or high school equivalency
    • Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience (substitutions may be allowed).
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills and customer service skills.
    • Familiarity with common office equipment.
    • Basic competency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word, Outlook, and Excel), with the ability to learn new programs.
