Job Location: This position will be located at 615 E 13 th St., Kansas City, MO 64106.

The Child Care Subsidy Program increases children's access to early learning and literacy by assisting eligible parents/guardians with payments for child care in Missouri. The purpose of this program is to not only ensure children have access to early childhood programs but also to help families with the cost of child care so that they are able to focus on finding and holding steady jobs and/or are able to attend school & training programs.

  • Review applications and determine initial/continuing eligibility for families needing child care assistance.
  • Enter information in the state’s web-based child care data system used to process applications.
  • Authorize child care assistance based on the family’s need for care and selection of child care provider(s).
  • Ensure families meet eligibility criteria per state and federal requirements for income-based and/or protective services.
  • Respond in a timely manner to phone calls and emails from parents regarding their child care assistance.
  • Ensure family applications are processed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain up-to-date and complete records of family eligibility and prepare reports or summaries as needed.
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks with accuracy.
  • Collaborate with staff in the Office of Childhood on requirements related to child care subsidy, including authorizations, payments, and investigations.
  • Assist with responding to email messages in shared Office of Childhood accounts.
  • Assist with answering phone calls for the Subsidy section and other sections in the Office of Childhood, as needed.
  • Assist with administrative duties, as needed.
  • Maintain familiarity with child care subsidy policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate regular, reliable, and engaged attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from high school or High School Equivalency.
  • One year of relevant work experience.
