Job Description

Job Location: Remote telework based out of Jefferson City, MO. The ideal candidate will be required to live in the State of Missouri and travel within the counties identified as the East Region . The first 6 weeks will include a hybrid training schedule. Candidate will be required to attend training in the Jefferson Building, located at 205 Jefferson St., Jefferson City, MO 65101 a few days per week and the other days will be virtual training at their remote location.

The Food and Nutrition Services Section administers the USDA Food Distribution Program and the following USDA Child Nutrition Programs: National School Lunch Program (NSLP), School Breakfast Program, Special Milk Program, and the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program. Under the NSLP, the After School Snack Program and Seamless Summer Option are also available. The programs are operated in public, non-public, and residential child care institutions. The goal of the Food and Nutrition Services Section is to providing safe food and technical assistance to ensure well balanced nutritious meals are served to the students of Missouri.

  • Professional work in the implementation of the Child Nutrition Programs and initiatives related to these programs. Programs include, but are not limited to: School Breakfast Program, National School Lunch Program, Afterschool Snack Program, Seamless Summer Option, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, Special Milk Program, and Provisional Programs.
  • Conduct on-site monitor at Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to conduct program reviews and evaluations of Child Nutrition Programs.
  • Complete web-based reports resulting from LEA on-site program reviews.
  • Develop and conduct trainings and presentations at district, state, and regional conference and meetings.
  • Provide technical assistance to LEAs for compliance with federal and state rules and regulations. Interpret federal and state rules, regulations, instructions, and guidance.
  • Access, evaluate, and approve districts verification reports.
  • Provide consultative services to teachers, administrators, and LEA Child Nutrition Program staff.
  • Assist with the review and approval of LEA Child Nutrition application/agreements.
  • Assist with the review and correction of LEA Child Nutrition Program reports of annual income and expenditures and program balances.
  • Ability to recognize program needs and provide competent and effective assistance to LEAs and food service directors/managers relative to problems of the administration and operation of the Child Nutrition Programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate regular, reliable and engaged attendance.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Food Science, Dietetics, or closely related field from an accredited college or university.


OR

  • Four years’ experience in Child Nutrition Programs, elementary/secondary education, government, policy, food service program management, food and nutrition science, or closely related experience, and possession of a high school diploma or equivalency.
