Full-time position available with the General Services Department, Information Technology Division located at 1111 Locust Ave
Salary Range: $6,489-$9,734/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. *Telework hybrid schedule available after 6-month probationary period completed

Responsibilities

  • Provides support for all aspects of the central IT division (ITD) customer service delivery process at the enterprise and departmental level for the city.
  • Serves as both a departmental customer advocate and enterprise IT representative for planning, designing, prioritizing, procurement, implementation, and lifecycle management of the Information Technology Divisions services for departmental clients.
  • Provides instruction to assigned team to effectively accomplish assigned projects.
  • Provides task direction as necessary.
  • Manages large projects in a competent fashion.
  • Participates and when necessary, leads customer and enterprise technology approval processes for the acquisition of and utilization of all IT related equipment/services, applications, networking, telecommunications, and systems.
  • Prioritizes requests for service enhancements and new technology implementations to ensure the most cost-effective business alignment of IT services for the city.
  • Manages assigned team members effectively to ensure that team members are meeting organizational service level commitments.
  • Acts as the technology lead for ITD and departments when engaging in departmental or city leadership meetings and technology presentations.
  • Develops business cases and overall project strategies including project planning, scope development, requirements gathering, contracting, writing RFP's and implementation for major efforts that satisfy the IT business needs of the assigned department(s).
  • Provides coordination for and manages the formal IT governance process established by policy or internal process requirements to ensure all technology efforts meet city and client requirements.
  • Understands the IT department and possesses the skills to effectively communicate with multiple departments within the City to understand their technological needs.
  • Acts as the main point of contact between IT and the Departments.
  • Works at a high level, to oversee the relationship between IT and the departments they support.
  • Develops comprehensive project plans outlining project scope, objectives, timelines, resources, and budget requirements.
  • Coordinates resources, both internal and external, to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Assigns tasks and responsibilities to team members and ensure accountability.
  • Identifies potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Address issues proactively that may impact project delivery and escalate when necessary.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, providing regular updates on project progress, milestones, and any potential issues.
  • Prepares and presents detailed reports to senior management and stakeholders.



Qualifications

REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree and 5 years of technology experience; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and technology experience.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
