Two full-time positions available with the General Services Department, Information Technology Division located at 1111 Locust Ave
Salary Range: $5,173-$7,759/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. *Telework hybrid schedule available after 6-month probationary period completed

Responsibilities

Position I:
  • Leads and performs work of a unit engaged in varied computer operations and architecture projects.
  • Assists lower-level IT associates with more complex technical projects and problems.
  • Provides leadership and coordination of project teams engaged in medium size projects.
  • Performs related activities and makes recommendations in areas that require a high level of technical competency.
  • Directs large projects in a competent fashion.
  • Follows appropriate processes and procedures for assigned projects.
  • Plans, reviews, and participates in the preparation of business application program instructions to solve business or technical problems and ensure the implementation of those processes for present and future project performance.
  • Makes significant contributions to the success of projects by applying demonstrated knowledge.
  • Performs technical peer review of work performed by project team.
  • Anticipates hardware and software needs and makes recommendations related to the acquisition of such.
  • Designs logic for programs or business application systems, prepares test data, define test schedules, and test data requirements and analyze test results.
  • Documents procedures and operating methods, gathers data for analysis of problem areas, analyzes documents, files and reports related to workflow, and designs system improvements.
  • Consults with supervisors and analysis staff in the design of information systems.
  • Participates in selecting and implementing operation systems and architecture improvements.
  • Analyzes problems, determines cause, and initiates corrective action in areas that require an expert level of technical competency.
  • Leads project teams in the implementation of design/analysis and programming/coding initiatives.
  • Utilizes interpersonal and communications skills to train, instructs and educates groups and individuals in a team environment.
  • Provides technical expertise to other members on the team for their technical development.
  • Recommends process or procedure changes.
  • Participates in process and quality improvement.
  • Follows through on commitments made to customers.
  • Assures that customer requirements are met.
  • Works effectively with peers, team members, and other departments.

Position II:

  • Works as primary component of the Enterprise Permitting and Licensing (EPL) support team that is responsible for maintaining users and creating/updating the EPL application.
  • Serves as current support for this fast-growing system is shared across members of the General Services Departments, IT Division support team.
  • Performs technical support, configuration, and operational support for EPL, the City's Enterprise Permitting and Licensing System.
  • Works on call on a weekly rotational basis as the critical business process support contact by handling after business hours support calls.
  • Takes the lead on performing software updates, system maintenance, testing and training and maintaining a secure environment.
  • Possesses excellent process documentation and customer service skills.
  • Performs system testing and quality control checks of new updates and configurations.
  • Constructs new user accounts and provides training for users of enterprise-level software systems.
  • Completes user account adjustments due to changes in staffing and communicates with Departments regarding proper system coverage.
  • Provides technical assistance by responding to questions and requests for assistance with software use.
  • Refers more complex issues to appropriate staff or vendors for resolution.
  • Maintains a working system knowledge of key operations for assisting users and ensuring proper use of the software.
  • Trains users in system operations and reporting functions.
  • Creates test transactions and runs tests to find errors and confirm software meets specifications.
  • Writes documentation or reviews documentation written by others that describes configuration and operating procedures.
  • Advises application users on how to accomplish tasks by answering questions and providing training.
  • Serves as liaison between users and vendors on complex technical matters requiring vendor participation to resolve, maintains ongoing communications with both parties until issue is resolved or acceptable workaround procedure is determined.
  • Assists customers with gathering information about program needs, objectives, functions, features, and input and output requirements.
  • Working well with other ITD team members and sections to meet customer service excellence.



Qualifications

REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree and 3 years of technology experience; OR a n equivalent combination of qualifying education and technology experience.
