The Water Division of the City of Fresno Department of Public Utilities is seeking candidates for two (2) grant-funded positions as LIMITED Landscape Water Conservation Specialists (LWCS). These roles are crucial for meeting the requirements and carrying out additional responsibilities envisaged under the Urban Community Drought Relief (UCDR) grant. The positions will be entirely financed through the grant and will be dedicated solely to furthering the objectives of the grant. The grant will remain in effect until December 31, 2026.

The individual designated as the limited employee will engage in offering consultations, supporting design concepts, and offering suggestions and guidance about drip irrigation systems and water-efficient landscape plants. Moreover, they will be accountable for scheduling follow-up appointments and ensuring the participants' information is updated and compliant, to facilitate payment processing.

Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule

SALARY: $5227 A Step, hourly rate $30.15 approximately
The salary range posted in this bulletin represents the salary range for a FULL-TIME position. Compensation will be pro-rated for temporary positions based on the number of hours worked.

The Requirements

Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications on or before the posted filing deadline to qualify for the examination and this does not assure a place on the eligibility list.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, horticulture, plant pathology, or closely related field;

-AND-

Two (2) years of experience in water-efficient irrigation systems and landscape design, which included planting and maintenance activities. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Additional Requirements

Possession of a valid California Driver's License may be required at the time of appointment. Candidates considered for hire must provide proof of a valid driver's license and a current copy of their driving record.

The ability to speak, read, and write a designated foreign language may be required when community needs dictate.
