This position will be located at Lake of the Ozarks State Park, 403 Highway 134, Brumley, MO. Shift is Monday - Friday (five 8-hour shifts), 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (1/2-hour lunch break). This position will require working frequent weekends and holidays and occasional nights and special events outside of the standard shift. Must and be available to participate in meetings, workshops and seminars requiring overnight stays.

  • Assist in directing the overall operation and maintenance of Lake of the Ozarks State Park.
  • Oversee the work and behavior of three full time staff and various seasonal and volunteer staff, including the ability to mentor and coach staff.
  • Participate in planning and directing natural or cultural history interpretation, resource management and research for Lake of the Ozarks State Park.
  • Planning and coordinating special events, group outings, and special program requests with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Assist in resource stewardship activities. Must be able to walk long distances on uneven terrain in all kinds of weather and environmental conditions and have the ability to lift 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
  • Ability to develop budget and project recommendations and perform administrative functions including revenue and procurement.
  • Respond to medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, personal injuries, disturbances, natural disasters, and any other significant events within the park.
  • Act in the absence of the Park Superintendent and independently make sound decisions and direct staff as needed.
  • Ability to operate a vehicle and maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license.


This position may be required to obtain and maintain appropriate commercial operator’s license, water/wastewater certifications, and/or other required licenses/certification. If required and if you do not currently possess this license/certification, you will be given six months to obtain necessary license/certification.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university can include: Park Management, Parks and Recreation, Wildlife Management, Forestry, Botany, Biology, Natural Sciences, History, Business of Public Administration or related field AND Four or more years of management, supervision and participation in interpretation, preservation, protection, maintenance and enhancement of state parks and historic sites (substitutions may be allowed)
  • Must complete Level 1 Fire Training within 12 months of employment.

Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.
