VOLUNTEERS IN POLICE SERVICE (VIPS) MISSION:

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to volunteer and serve the beautiful community of Kingman, AZ? Look no further! The Kingman Police Department is seeking individuals willing to volunteer their time. The common denominator of all volunteers on our team is the simple desire to give something back to the community that they love. Whether you have a lot of time to give or just a few hours a month, we would love to have you involved. As a volunteer at the Police Department, you will be an ambassador of good will for the City of Kingman. Volunteer positions are unpaid. The selection, appointment and tenure of VIPS personnel will be determined by the Chief of Police.

The application form must be completed in sufficient detail to allow comprehensive review and evaluation. Issuance of acceptance of this application for volunteering of services does not create an obligation in any manner for the City of Kingman or the City of Kingman Police Department. In no case shall acceptance of an application constitute an assurance of consideration. A volunteer applicant may be required to submit additional information in order to complete a thorough background check by the City of Kingman Police Department. Any misrepresentation shall be sufficient to remove my application from consideration.

Minimum Qualifications/Special Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Proof of highest level of education
  • Possess a valid Arizona state driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire
  • Pass an interview with police supervisors
  • Pass a police background check
  • Any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work
  • Work a minimum of 4 hours per month
  • Schedules are flexible, but generally, volunteers serve Monday through Friday during daylight hours
  • Be in good physical health


Essential Functions

OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Attend any training offered that will enhance performance within the Police Department
  • Report to work on time when scheduled, and notify supervisor if unable to report.
  • Comply with and follow the same rules and policies as required of all City of Kingman Police Department employees.
  • Strive to help the Police Department obtain its goals and objectives.
