Job Summary

Starting Salary:
Planner I - Contract: $24.16 - $30.81hourly, depending on qualifications
Planner II - Contract: $27.14 - $34.61hourly, depending on qualifications
Planner III - Contract: $28.86 - $36.80hourly, depending on qualifications

This position is funded through the US Department of Transportation Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant program and will work on planning activities related to the Vision Zero Orlando Action Plan Update, Pedestrian Facilities Plan, and Quick Build Safety Projects. This Planner performs professional work in transportation planning, including a variety of program or project planning activities that impact transportation safety, including community engagement, data analysis, and plan development. This position will be responsible for review of plans and reports submitted by consultants on deliverables such as the Vision Zero Orlando Progress Report, Post-crash Roadway Safety Protocol, and a prioritized project lists. Additional responsibilities include: leading community outreach and preparing programmatic and fiscal grant reports in compliance with federal guidelines. Work is performed under the direction of a Planning Supervisor and reviewed through reports submitted, and results obtained.

Minimum Qualifications:

Planner I: Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Urban Planning, Architecture, or related field and six (6) months of urban planning or related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required within the time limit set by the hiring department. Master’s Degree in related field desired. Experience with CAD, GIS, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator or comparable design software preferred.

Planner II : Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Urban Planning, Architecture, or related field and two (2) years of urban planning or related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required within the time limit set by the hiring department. Master’s Degree in related field and six (6) months of related experience desired. Experience with CAD, GIS, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, or comparable design software preferred.

Planner III : Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Urban Planning, Architecture, or related field and four (4) years of urban planning or related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Bachelor’s Degree in any field is acceptable with AICP certification. Valid Florida Driver's License required within the time limit set by the hiring department. Master’s Degree in related field and two (2) years of urban planning or related experience desired. Experience with CAD, GIS, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, or comparable design software preferred. AIA, ASLA, or AICP Certification preferred.

This is a full-time CONTRACT position with the same benefits as Regular full-time. Most contracts are renewable for terms of one year.
