The Associate Caseworker position receives calls, emails and walk-in reports of adult abuse/neglect and exploitation, gathers information from multiple sources, records the information into the state data system, research multiple databases for history on identified parties in the reports, and submits reports daily for review and assignment. Position refers callers to appropriate resources, and interfaces with the public on adult abuse/neglect reports. Position also assists families in navigating the public assistance system and community resources to ensure families are receiving appropriate levels of assistance & services. This position primarily works in-office; however, this position may conduct at home visits for stable on-going adult protection cases.

Schedule :

Please note of this position's schedule and hours:
  • Five days a week working eight hours per day. Upon successful completion of probation, you will have the opportunity to transition into a flexible schedule of four days a week working 10 hours per day.
  • Work location could be a combination of working remotely and in-office as determined by the needs of the team.


Compensation :

Hiring Range: $25.00 - $26.00USD Hourly

Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills.

Essential Duties:

The Associate Caseworker is responsible for:
  • Taking reports of Adult Abuse/Neglect and exploitation.
  • Assessing incoming reports, referrals, or request for services as a screener.
  • Researching multiple databases for history on identified parties in the reports and submits reports daily for review and assignment.
  • Gathering and documenting information on reporting party, victim/clients, caretakers, and other pertinent information that will aid in determining course of action & appropriate level of response.
  • Conducting face to face interviews with reporting parties that come to Human Services building.
  • Completing an initial risk assessment to determine the safety of the adult and/or community, the scope of the alleged abuse, the environment where the alleged abuse/neglect occurred, and the history, if any, of previous reports of abuse/neglect or family violence.
  • Assessing the needs of the at-risk adult and possibly the family, discuss potential crisis interventions with supervisor, and coordinates services in order to reduce the risk of abuse/neglect.
  • May participate in the assessment and incorporation of police reports to determine if further follow-up is needed.
  • May assist caseworkers who are in the field depending on workload and performance.

Qualifications:

Minimal Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree with an equivalent of thirty (30) semester or forty-five (45) quarter hours in the following:
  • human behavioral sciences or health care related courses, such as, social work, sociology, psychology, psychiatry, gerontology, nursing, special education, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures, therapeutic techniques, criminal justice, other human behavioral sciences, or a medical field relevant to the APS program and/or at-risk adults.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 6 months experience working with at risk adults or adult protection field
  • Excellent phone skills, ensuring a positive tone through the entire interaction, asking clarifying questions and taking detailed messages to ensure the clients questions are answered.
  • Ability to articulate clearly and effectively to varying levels of customer
  • Experience with Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365
  • High attention to detail when proofreading/correcting written reports
  • Proficiency in processing paper and electronic records per established records management protocols.
  • Strong customer service skills

  • Must have valid driver's license, if you are from out of state, you must obtain a valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of hire date and you must not have any major violations, nor more than one DUI, DWI, DWAI conviction in the past three years.
