Job Description and DutiesUnder the direction of the Division Chief of Program Project Management, a Supervising Transportation Engineer, the incumbent, equipped with in-depth and varied knowledge related to program and project management policies and project delivery processes and procedures, assists in the continual improvement and knowledge sharing related to project delivery. Develops and provides training related to project management, program management, and project delivery; assists in the development of district directives, policies, and memos related to project management and project delivery, provides guidance and direction to the Project Management Support Unit (PMSU) and data governance units on the development of new tools and resources to support the successful delivery of major projects. Assists in coordinating and documenting all roles and responsibilities related to project management in District 11 (D11) to support successful succession planning. Also assists in providing guidance related to alternative delivery methods.
The incumbent must possess a valid certificate of registration as a civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.

Working ConditionsPosition(s) located San Diego, San Diego County
This is a Limited Term position which may be extended to 24 months or become permanent.
Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.
The work environment is fast-paced, busy, and requires considerable flexibility in managing time, priorities, and assignments. While at the base of operation, the incumbent works in a climate-controlled office under artificial lighting. Limited travel outside of the District may be required. Possession of a valid driver's license is required to operate a State owned or leased vehicles.
This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’s evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
