Brief OverviewUnder general direction of the Court Operations Manager, this full-time position will conduct a variety of specialized clerical, administrative and customer service duties that directly support the daily operations of Reno Municipal Court. This position is responsible for the performance of various functions, including, but not limited to, assisting the public, data entry, records management, and sentence compliance monitoring.
DutiesReceive new filings; accurately enter the data in the Court's case management system (Odyssey); create court cases; properly process all supplemental filings; maintain an accurate electronic case record.
Review submitted legal documents for completeness, accuracy and signatures; determine proper processing requirements and take appropriate action to ensure full compliance with court rules
Assist the public and stakeholders at the counter, on the phone or on-line; answer general case processing questions; complete record searches, make and certify copies, scan documents, and establish partial payment plans
Perform a variety of cashiering duties; receive and receipt money; post payments, bail, and bonds; count, verify, record, and prepare reports on daily cash receipts; post to computerized cash ledgers
Monitor case files to ensure compliance with court order(s), financial obligations, court dates, and other related program conditions; correspond with defendants by phone and e-mail to resolve issues; prepare non-compliance reports; if necessary prepare warrants
Education/TrainingEquivalent combination of formal education and specialized training that would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position.
ExperienceTwo (2) years of general office support in a fast pace environment; ability to work with various software applications.
Judicial Code of ConductThe Model Code of Conduct for Judicial Employees in the State of Nevada protects and promotes the independence and impartiality of the judicial branch of government. All employees of the Reno Municipal Court are required to adhere to this Code, found on-line at nvcourts.gov.
At-Will EmploymentReno Municipal Court is an at-will employer and can legally release you from service at anytime without reason or cause. An extensive criminal background check will be conducted and if you have been convicted of any undisclosed felony or gross misdemeanor crimes then your employment with Reno Municipal Court will be immediately terminated. Failure to pass future criminal background investigations will also result in termination of your employment.
