ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Water Reclamation District is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the WRD Pretreatment Inspector position. This position will be primarily responsible for:
  • Conducting effective wastewater pretreatment inspections
  • Preparing clear and concise reports and corresponding enforcement requirements with the regulatory community
  • Completing industrial waste surveys; developing, writing, and issuing Industrial Wastewater Permits
  • Collecting and preserving analytical samples using EPA approved methods from Industrial Users sites
  • Reviewing plumbing plans, understanding wastewater billing, and conferring with business representations

This recruitment will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by college level course work in chemistry, biology or a related field AND three (3) years of full-time experience in inspecting industrial and commercial wastewater dischargers and enforcing pretreatment regulations. Possession of an Associate's Degree is an appropriate field is desirable.

Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application. Do not substitute a resume for your application or write "see attached resume" on your application.

Working Conditions: Work extended shifts or be called back in emergency situations. Work with potential exposure to hazardous chemicals and substances. Work underground and/or in confined spaces. Climbing, lifting, pulling and carrying required in outdoor environments and possibly on uneven surfaces. Work out of doors in all weather conditions.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License at time of appointment. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Nevada Water Environment Association (NWEA) Industrial Waste Inspector Grade II Certification, or candidate must possess a valid Industrial Waste Inspector Grade II Certificate, or equivalent, within another state. If a non-NWEA certification is held the candidate, within one year of hire, must obtain, either through reciprocity or test, a NWEA Industrial Waste Inspector Grade II Certificate.

Some positions may require confined space entry certification.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
