GENERAL INFORMATION
This recruitment is being conducted to fill an Extra Help Stock/ Delivery Clerk position with the Clerk Recorder Department for seasonal/ on-call work and to establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Stanislaus County Clerk Recorder-Registrar of Voters Office under the guidance and leadership of the County's Clerk Recorder/Registrar of Voters is dedicated to the oversight of the County's election processes and to the oversight of recording legal and real property documents. The Department has a total budget of over $7 million and consists of 48 full time allocated positions. The Department consists of three divisions- Administration Division, Recorder Division and Elections Division.

ABOUT THE POSITION
Applicants selected as an Elections Stock/ Delivery Clerk will be assigned to intermittent positions during peak workload periods, primarily during election periods. Stock/Delivery Clerks work under the direct supervision of the Storekeeper at the Elections Warehouse. Stock/Delivery Clerks are responsible for preparing election materials and equipment for distribution. Clerks also assist in the testing of election equipment before deployment. They may also assist in poll worker training, election canvass (post-election vote tabulation and reconciliation), return of election equipment from the polling locations and other duties as assigned. This position serves the community by assisting the Registrar of Voters in conducting fair and accurate elections.

Part-time extra-help is a provisional classification where permanent status may not be obtained. This position is subject to overtime, standby, shift, and callback assignments and will perform related duties as assigned. This position is non-benefited except for participation in a 401a program.

Typical Tasks

  • Drive as needed to deliver supplies and equipment for an election;
  • Store and inventory election supplies and materials, which may require the use of a forklift (training provided);
  • Assemble and package election supplies for delivery to polling places;
  • Assist in regular inventory of equipment;
  • Load and unload materials;
  • Establish and maintain positive work relationships with all levels of internal and external customers;
  • Meet deadlines;
  • Attend recommended and mandatory safety training, including defensive driving training; and
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education/Experience)

KNOWLEDGE:
  • Transportation - Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits;
  • Administrative - Knowledge of administrative and office procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and workplace terminology;
  • English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar;
  • Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic and algebra, and their applications; and
  • Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
  • Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma (GED).

LICENSE

EXAMINATION PROCESS

  • Eligible Lists. Candidates who pass the examination will be placed on an eligible list for that classification. Eligible lists are effective for six months, but may be extended up to eighteen months.
