Salary Level: FS/3A/2, $20.53

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:30am - 1:30pm

Examples Of Duties

This position assists the cook-manager in daily preparation of large food quantities and in providing food service; occasionally substitutes for the cook-manager.

E SSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Assists the cook-manager in preparing items for the day’s menu and any other items as designated.

2. Provides service on the cafeteria line, vegetable, and salad preparation and clean up duties as assigned.

3. Follows good safety and sanitation rules and procedures.

OTHER JOB DUTIES

1. Perform related duties as assigned.

CONDITIONS

Required to stand for prolonged periods of time; required to occasionally lift or carry heavy objects; required to be precise; required to work with kitchen machinery with moving parts; exposed to infectious diseases.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent with one year successful food service experience in a school district. Recent satisfactory experience in performing cashier and/or assistant cook/baker duties is required; or any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the work.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of safety and sanitation rules and procedures.

Knowledge of accepted cooking and baking techniques and nutrition.

Ability to follow instructions and comply with district policies and regulations.

Ability to perform basic arithmetic. Ability to accurately adjust recipes.

Ability to give instructions and supervise kitchen staff as necessary.

Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people in a multi-cultural, diverse socio-economic setting.

Ability to participate as part of a team.

Licenses/Special Requirements

Current Washington State Food and Beverage Service Worker’s permit.
