Civil Engineer II $28.06 - $37.18 Depending on Qualifications

Civil Engineer IV $33.34 - 44.17 Depending on Qualifications

NATURE OF WORK:

ENGINEERING DESIGN:
Performs professional engineering work in the design or review of engineering plans and specifications for the construction of public works projects such as streets, parking facilities, storm and sanitary systems, and environmental programs. Employees in this class prepare designs and detailed specifications for construction or are responsible for the review of plans submitted by engineering consulting firms to insure construction is in compliance with City standards and engineering principles, methods, and techniques. Work assignments are received from a professional supervisor who defines the scope of the work to be performed, but the employee is expected to plan details of work and make technical decisions. Work is reviewed while in progress and upon completion.

Minimum Requirements:

CIVIL ENGINEER I:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and six (6) months or more of experience in public works engineering; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Engineering Intern License required. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida desired. Great people and communication skills highly desired. Experience in the City of Orlando and Water Management District rules and regulations and FEMA rules and regulations as it pertains to site development preferred. Some positions may require a valid Florida Driver's License.

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and two (2) or more years experience in public works engineering; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Engineering Intern License required. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida desired. Great people and communication skills highly desired. Experience in the City of Orlando and Water Management District rules and regulations and FEMA rules and regulations as it pertains to site development preferred. Some positions may require a valid Florida Driver's License.

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and four (4) or more years experience in public works engineering; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. CIVIL ENGINEER IV:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and four (4) or more years experience in public works engineering; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida required . A Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certification must be obtained within one (1) year of employment. Experience in the City of Orlando and Water Management District rules and regulations and FEMA rules and regulations as it pertains to site development preferred. Great people and communication skills highly desired. Some positions may require a valid Florida Driver's License.

ENGINEERING INTERN LICENSE MUST BE UPLOADED.

VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
  • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
  • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
  • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
