Job Summary Performs mechanical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of waste treatment equipment and machinery. Determines the nature of malfunctions and suggests how to repair them or if equipment should be returned to the shop for a major overhaul. Decides when the shafts need to be lubricated, when additional oil for the engine is needed, plugs, points, etc. Work is performed under the supervision of the Mechanic Supervisor or Manager. Work is reviewed while in progress and upon completion for accuracy and completeness. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and three (3) years of industrial mechanical experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License or Florida Commercial Driver's License A, B, or C may be required prior to employment, depending on the equipment assigned to the position. Some positions must pass an annual respirator physical; no facial hair allowed between the face and the sealing surface of the respirator face piece. Must own a standard set of mechanic tools (list attached) and a cell/home phone. WASTEWATER LIFT STATION: Must obtain and maintain a security clearance and GOAA ID badge within ninety (90) days of hire. Additional Qualifications for Promotion: To progress from Mechanic III to Mechanic IV, employees must accumulate four (4) years of appropriate mechanical experience and demonstrate their mechanical knowledge, skills, and abilities to the satisfaction of their Supervisor and/or Manager. Valid Florida Class C Wastewater Collection Technician Certification required.
