In addition to performance-based merit increases, this position is scheduled to receive salary range increases on the following dates:

Effective June 28, 2024 - 4.25% increase

Effective June 27, 2025 - 4.00% increase

Salary may be negotiable within the range listed above, based on position requirements and the successful candidate's qualifications, subject to appropriate authorization.

THE OPPORTUNITY
OCIT is seeking a candidate to fill a full time IT System Engineer II position. The position will administer and manage server operations in one of the largest agencies in the county.
The position will also support multiple seasoned engineering staff as well as perform other duties as assigned.

In addition, the IT Systems Engineer II will perform, but is not limited to, the following duties :
  • Deploying, configuring, maintaining, and upgrading Microsoft Servers, Exchange Servers, backup and disaster recovery systems, and related management tools
  • Configuring, maintaining, and upgrading storage arrays and related management tools
  • Maintaining system security on host and virtual servers
  • Monitoring and optimizing the performance of host and virtual servers
  • Designing, configuring, and performing backup and recovery of key systems
  • Controlling and monitoring user access
  • Maintaining archived data
  • Provide user access to applications in accordance with approved security roles;
  • Create, modify, and delete user access;
  • Provide second level support for application provisioning issues
  • Assist with the administration and maintenance of the complex Active Directory organizational structure, Microsoft Exchange, Exchange Online and Office 365
  • Perform incident resolution
  • Create and run reports on user access activities
  • Create and update procedures and user guides; and/or participate on projects.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
In addition to the Minimum Qualifications, the ideal candidate will possess two (2) or more years of professional experience supporting enterprise applications in large (over 4,000 users), complex network environments.

In addition, the ideal candidate will possess the following core competencies:

Technical Expertise | Technical Knowledge
  • Thorough understanding of complex terminology and networking concepts in information systems
  • Experience with administration and troubleshooting of Microsoft components of Active Directory, Account/group administration, Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), File and Print Services, Group Policy, and File backup/restore operations in large environments
  • Experience and thorough understanding of on-premise and O365 hosted Exchange servers in large environments.
  • Experience with VMware environments to include Hypervisor, Clustering, HA/DRS, VMware Horizon, monitoring tools and VM administration
  • Experience with Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS-X) and HyperFlex environments to include components of, Fabric Interconnect, Storage Area Networks (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS)

RECRUITMENT PROCESS

Structured Oral Interview (Weighted 100%)
Applicants will be interviewed and rated by an oral interview panel of job knowledge experts. Each applicant's rating will be based on responses to a series of structured questions designed to elicit the applicant's qualifications for the job. Only the most successful candidates will be placed on the eligible list.

Based on the Department's needs, the selection procedures listed above may be modified. All candidates will be notified of any changes in the selection procedure.

Eligible List
Once the assessment has been completed, HRS will establish an eligible list of candidates. Candidates placed on the eligible list may be referred to a selection interview to be considered for present and future vacancies.
