What You'll Be DoingWake County GSA is looking for a highly motivated
Senior Accounting Technician to join their team! This position has potential to work across all divisions and is responsible for fiscal stewardship and administrative support for GSA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management Planning, Processing and Reporting
- Coordinate financial records and reporting
- Prepare contracts and requisitions
- Process financial payments
- Process journal entries
- Prepare and maintain internal financial reporting
- Manage cash deposits by serving as a Deposit Preparer, Deposit Deliverer, Cashier/Receipt Writer and Advantage Financial Data Enterer
- Assist with weekly utility payment process
- Verify and process Purchase Card uses for cardholders
- Prepare and process departmental chargebacks
Office Management and Support Duties:
- Maintain records of all documents for all contracts, purchase orders and project proposals
- Maintain all administrative files
- Organize meetings and other special events
- Provide office supply management and other administrative support
- Serve as back-up to the Request Center, answering customer calls and entering work orders
Human Resource Representative:
- Update personnel information into Wake County HR systems
- Assist employees with benefits and other HR questions and concerns
- Provide other general HR support as needed
This position requires extensive understanding of how to process payments and revenues and a strong understanding and the ability to analyze and report budgetary information including projections and overall fund balances. This position handles a high volume of payments and documents.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience) - High school diploma or GED
- Three years of job-related experience
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted
Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) - Associates Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Accounting or related field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
- Working knowledge of financial systems (Advantage)
- Working knowledge of work order management software (Maximo)
- Cash handling experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
