Job Location: Kansas City District Office, 600 NE Colbern Road, Lee’s Summit, MO

This position may be filled at one of the three levels based on knowledge, skills, and abilities. The entry salary is posted above, with the intermediate starting salary of $64,567.92, and a senior starting salary of $69,733.44.

  • Conducts safety, security and wellness training/coaching to personnel. This may include individual, small group or large audiences in addition to annual meetings such as Stand Up for Safety Day, Safety Stand Downs and special safety topics.
  • Investigates injuries, crashes, damaged tools and equipment and completes thorough, accurate and timely reports. This includes evaluating facts, reviewing procedures, and making recommendations to prevent incidents and injuries. Assists with developing urgent Safety Minute bulletins.
  • Conducts annual inspections of MoDOT facilities and completes related reports.
  • Serves as a resource to provide guidance, safety policy interpretation, answer questions and assists with review of job safety, including the review of annual innovations challenge for safety issues.
  • Serves on safety and health committees and attend meetings on behalf of the District Safety and Health Manager. This includes organizing and running weekly safety review meetings with district leadership.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree: Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, or related field.


Special Working Conditions:

  • Job requires frequent district-wide and occasional statewide travel.
  • Job requires exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment.
  • Job may require operation of vehicles to plow snow and spread ice control materials.
