The Bureau of Feed and Seed regulates the State's feed and seed industries through inspections, sampling, and testing products by the Bureau’s feed and seed laboratories. The Feed and Seed program maintains a risk-based animal food safety program through the measuring, evaluating, and improving the program’s performance through the Animal Food Regulatory Program Standards. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a full time AFRPS Coordinator to fill a critical role in our program. Job Location: Jefferson City, MO area

  • Assist the Program Manager in the overall management of a Feed and Seed program; assume responsibility for program activities in the absence of the Program Manager.
  • Perform auditing procedures to evaluate the effectiveness of inspections and sample collections, recognize trends in the inspection and sampling program, and identify areas in the need of corrective action.
  • Provide technical assistance and consultation to field personnel; develop and conduct program-specific training and inspector on-boarding.
  • Maintain a risk-based inspection plan for the feed program.
  • Participate in the Missouri Rapid Response Team and maintain a coordinated emergency response plan for the feed program.
  • Identify, develop, and employ outreach activities.
  • Assist in the development of the feed program inspectional work plan. Evaluate and coordinate resource needs to accomplish the program inspection and sampling activities.
  • Perform and maintain program self-assessment and improvement.
  • Attend national organization meetings and actively participate as a committee member.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Six (6) or more years of professional or technical experience in animal nutrition, animal science, agriculture business management, food science or closely related areas. Post-secondary degree with emphasis in agriculture, plant, or soil sciences, or biology will count toward experience.

  • Valid Missouri Driver’s License

  • Ability to communicate, interpret and enforce animal food statutes, regulations, and policies.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate the activities of staff engaged in program implementation.
  • Ability to travel in the performance of assigned duties statewide and out of state.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, government agencies, industry associations and the public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor and subordinates and to prepare clear and concise reports.
