The Wake County Board of Elections is currently seeking a Business Analyst to join our elections team. The Business Analyst plays a critical role in overseeing the development and maintenance of databases and process workflows while also ensuring that all team members have the access and resources necessary to perform their job duties.

What will you do as a Business Analyst?
  • Manage, maintain and update all Wake County Board of Elections databases using commonly accepted relational database standards and techniques
  • Collaborate with all teams within the department to identify process improvements and potential for automation
  • Create audit reports for Wake County voter registration, absentee, geocode, Precinct Official, and other election data
  • Coordinate with various teams to ensure databases are maintained and updated in preparation for election events and deadlines
  • Test databases prior to election events to ensure functionality
  • Work with a contracted vendor to prepare Election Day pollbooks and ensure accuracy of voter data
  • Assist with new employee onboarding
  • Manage employee access to various databases, programs and resources
  • Assist with the development of the Board of Elections yearly budget to include developing business cases for expansion requests
  • Create documentation and how-to documents for maintaining and updating Board of Elections relational databases
  • Assist in the planning, preparation and execution of various election events


About Our Team

The Wake County Board of Elections is responsible for conducting all elections held in Wake County. The Board locally administers State election laws. Principal functions include establishing election precincts and voting sites; appointing and training Precinct Officials; preparing and distributing ballots and voting equipment; canvassing and certifying the ballots cast in elections and investigating any voting irregularities. It maintains voter registration and participation records and provides public information on voters and elections. This position is in-person and will work at the Board of Elections Operations Center.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Two years of job-related experience
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

  • Experience working with relational databases
  • Experience working at a County Board of Elections office
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Clear financial and criminal records check
