Job Description

What You'll Be Doing

The Wake County Animal Center is seeking a compassionate Animal Shelter Attendant to partner with us and our mission to help all of our shelter pets find furever homes.

Our Animal Shelter Attendants play an important role at the shelter by being the loving caregivers our pets need during their stay with us. In this role you will monitor, feed, give the animals enrichment items and toys and as part of a team, help keep our shelter a clean and welcoming place for individuals and families to visit. Our Attendants also act as adoption counselors that assist customers who are looking for a new addition to their family or searching for their lost pet, answer radio calls from the Front Desk Staff to provide support, and assist foster parents or rescue partners.

Our committed team of animal lovers work together and understand that because the Animal Center is an open-admission facility, some of the animals that come into the Center may possibly have behavioral or medical issues which require special care, proper and humane animal handling, and recognition of common or infectious animal disease.

Apply today! This is your opportunity to turn your love of animals into a rewarding career where you can go home knowing you helped make a difference.
