Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of an Information Technology Manager I, the incumbent works as an entry-level technical software/hardware support specialist in support of the Department of Justice Linux/UNIX infrastructure. The incumbent will track, monitor, and audit information technology assets; resolve client incidents or requests; install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux systems; research and analyze new client technologies; develop and update controls to ensure availability of systems; maintain unit procurement documentation; gather, document, and review system requirements and specifications; and test, debug, and evaluate software system functionality. The incumbent contributes toward the growth of the Technology Support Bureau into a customer-focused service organization by following the established cultural principles and will continuously improve communications and relationships with subordinates, peers, management, customers, and vendors .

This position is eligible for telework up to 5 days a week, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. A teleworker is considered Remote-centered if they work fifty percent or more of their time from an alternate work location. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

This position is located in the California Justice Information Services Division, Technology Support Bureau, Strategic Transport & Technology Services Branch, Unix Server Administration Unit.
