RoleThis position's primary function will be cataloging of library materials.Under general supervision, provides a variety of library support services including basic to intermediate cataloging activities.
Major Duties, Responsibilities- Adds items to existing bibliographic records in the integrated library system.
- Creates, removes, and updates bibliographic records in the integrated library system.
- Assists with monitoring the integrity of all bibliographic records added to the integrated library system.
- Creates cataloging reports as necessary.
- Interacts with other Library Network library staff to resolve cataloging issues related to the processing of library materials and managing bibliographic records.
- Prepares physical items for public use including, but not limited to, barcoding, RFID-tagging, adding spine labels and property stamping.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsEducation:High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in library automation software, library principles, methods and practices, library classification systems, cataloging principles and terminology, training skills, graphic design, and/or webpage design.
Additional Requirements:Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license without restrictions.

Knowledge of:- Standard library cataloging practices, principles, methods, and technical service processes.
- MARC and RDA bibliographic cataloging standards.
- Dewey Decimal and/or Library of Congress Classification systems.
- Business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition.
- Clerical office practices and procedures.
- Research techniques and report writing.
- Current Microsoft Office software.
- Filing and recordkeeping.
Skill in:- Creating instructional materials for library staff to support hands-on training.
- Communicating effectively verbally and in writing and communicating orally in a face-to-face setting and by telephone with public and employees.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
- Organization and adherence to detail.
Ability to:- Assist with special projects on-site or at other locations.
- Attend certain Yavapai Library Network user group meetings.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other departments, representatives of other organizations, County officials, and the public.
- Keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the department.
- Remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties.
- Handle confidential matters and maintain discretion always.
- Act with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.
Work Environment:The work environment is associated with an office and public library. The work area is adequately lighted, heated or cooled and ventilated.
Physical Requirements:Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effective in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to lift and carry up to 2 0 pounds.
