Job Description

As the Finance Services Unit Manager, you will function as a high-level financial manager reporting to the Assistant General Manager (AGM)/Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This position manages and oversees extensive in-depth research and analysis related to assigned programs or projects. Coordinates and leads assigned program activities with other departments and outside agencies including preparation, presentation, and documentation of departmental budgets and serves as a staff specialist and liaison for assigned areas of responsibility. In addition, manage and supervise administrative and technical staff.

In this position, a program or project may be an ongoing endeavor, strategic actions of limited duration within an ongoing program, or may comprise multiple large projects which constitute or support a major goal or operation of Metropolitan. A program typically involves external agencies and matrix management of multiple staff. Programs may also involve a single major effort of a comprehensive nature.

As the Finance Services Unit Manager, it is important to operate strategically in order to increase the effectiveness of the teams within the Finance Administration/Human Resources/Diversity, Equity and Inclusion departments. Your knowledge related to strategic financial and human resources disciplines management is critical to your success in this position.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 12 years of increasingly responsible relevant experience, of which four years must have been in a management or supervisory position; or an advanced degree from an accredited college or university and 10 years of increasingly responsible relevant experience, of which four years must have been in a management or supervisory position.

Relevant Experience is defined as: work experience related to strategic financial management planning and financial analysis, and/or human resources strategic planning and related disciplines, including development of policies and procedures.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
