You’ll be joining the Division of Energy’s State Energy Program whose objective is to foster, plan, and implement state and federal energy initiatives that will make Missouri’s energy landscape more efficient, resilient, and diverse.

This position will be located at Division of Energy, 1101 Riverside Drive, Jefferson City MO 65101.

  • Serve as primary project coordinator responsible for managing the planning, deployment, and implementation of energy projects and initiatives funded by federal grant awards.
  • Track, monitor, and identify new federal grant opportunities that may align with Missouri energy priorities.
  • Develop scope narratives, objectives, and budget estimates for energy grants or other initiatives.
  • Serve as primary project officer and point of contact with internal and external stakeholders on energy grants and projects within this position portfolio.
  • Monitor compliance with active grants to ensure timely activity progress and completion.
  • Proactively engage with stakeholders to solicit recommendations and feedback on policies and initiatives related to energy grants and projects.
  • Proactively engage and foster professional relationships with state and national stakeholders with the intent to facilitate more collaboration on future energy grants, projects, and opportunities when they arise.
  • Assist and occasionally lead outreach and engagement activities to enhance State Energy Program projects and initiatives.


To be successful in this position, a candidate will need the following skills:

  • Project Management: Knowledge of the principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources, including monitoring and inspecting costs, work, and contractor performance.
  • Planning and Evaluating: Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements; determines short- or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinates with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors progress and evaluates outcomes.
  • Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, considering the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Adaptability: Adjusts planned work by gathering relevant information and applying critical thinking to address multiple demands and competing priorities in a changing environment
  • Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving : Uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.


Equivalent to those typically gained by:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in environmental policy, energy engineering, or other environmental science-related field. (Additional education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience)
  • 2+ years of professional experience in an environmental policy, regulatory, engineering, advocacy, or related role.
  • Knowledge of or experience with Missouri’s energy landscape and/or state or national energy initiatives.
  • This position requires a valid driver’s license.
