The Pesticide Program conducts inspection and investigations under the authority of the Missouri Pesticide Use Act (MPUA). We are looking for a full time Pesticide Program Specialist (Consumer Protection Specialist) to fill a critical role in our program. This rewarding position within the Missouri Department of Agriculture will allow you to learn many aspects of the pesticide program.   • Conduct detailed reviews on inspections and investigations initiated by field staff to determine label and/or regulatory violations.
  • Maintain a high level of regulatory knowledge of the Missouri Pesticide Use Act (MPUA), Worker Protection Standards (WPS), Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), and Missouri Pesticide Registration Act.
  • Maintain tracking databases.
  • Manage pesticide product registration for the program. This includes processing over 14,000 pesticide products annually, entering payments and pesticide labels in database, thoroughly reviewing all pesticide labels, and assisting registrants with the registration process.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Five (5) or more years of professional or technical experience in plant science, horticulture, biology or closely related field. Post-secondary degree with emphasis in agriculture, plant or soil sciences, horticulture or biology will count toward experience.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent attention to detail, high-level organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Works effectively with other departments, programs, and peers.
