Job Description

Role

Under administrative supervision, provides medical leadership to the clinical support team and is responsible for the provision of medical care within the physician’s specialty, scope of practice and area of expertise to patients in an outpatient setting.

Major Duties, Responsibilities

  • Provides comprehensive medical care in accordance with regulations and scope of practice for licensure in Arizona, State, Federal and other grant requirements, and the requirements of all payors.
  • Examines patients and conducts appropriate tests to determine medical condition/health status, determines and implements treatment plans and/or refers patients to specialists and other medical facilities as needed.
  • Supervises medical team, including review and co?signing of patient record entries by mid?level providers.
  • Documents all medical services and patient interactions into the Electronic Health Record in accordance with department standards, all federal reporting requirements, (Uniform Data System), Meaningful Use criteria.
  • Maintain an efficient patient workflow within the designated template.
  • Meets Patient Centered Medical Home and standards of the quarterly Quality Improvement audits including in Chronic Medical Conditions such as Diabetes (DM) and Hypertension (HTN).
  • Provides leadership and direction in the improvement of one of the Clinical Performance Measures and participates in the other Quality Improvement Program initiatives, as requested.
  • Participates in on call duty, as required.
  • Represents the department in community outreach events such as health screenings and physicals at Health Fairs, school sports physicals and community sports physicals.
  • Responds to community emergencies with a public health consequence according to the department’s Emergency Response Plan.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an accredited medical school.

Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years of residency/internship experience and one (1) year experience providing patient care in a clinical setting.

Licensure or Certifications:
Active Arizona medical license and federal DEA license required.
Basic Life Support certification required.

Additional Requirements:
Board certification in area of specialty or eligibility to obtain certification within one (1) year of hire.
Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.

  • Remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties.
  • Handle confidential matters and maintain discretion always.
  • Work professionally and effectively with co-workers, clients, victims of crime, witnesses, and the general public.

Work Environment:
The work environment is associated with a medical clinic. The work area is adequately lighted, heated or cooled and ventilated. The work involves potential exposure to infections, contagious diseases and blood borne pathogens. Clinical staff are required to use appropriate protective equipment. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effectively in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
