Nature of Work:

The city is looking for an experienced electrical inspector with a background inspecting industrial electrical installations demonstrating knowledge of the NEC or NFPA70E. This position will be inspecting installations at wastewater treatment plants, sanitary lift stations, and other city construction projects. We desire to see a Journeyman license, with a Master Electrician preferred.

Performs technical field inspections and office work enforcing national, state, and local codes governing the design and construction of various types of city projects related to one or more of the following areas: renovation of buildings, structures, wastewater treatment systems, sewer lift stations, and other Public Works projects. Must be able to generate detailed descriptions on a daily basis for all work progress and identify that work is proceeding in accordance with contract documents. Employees assigned to this classification must exercise considerable initiative and independent judgement in the interpretation of construction drawings and application of codes in making technical decisions. Work is performed under general supervision, according to established guidelines, and performance is reviewed through reports submitted, meetings, and results obtained for technical sufficiency and consistent application.

Minimum Requirements

ELECTRICAL: Minimum of nine (9) years’ experience in electrical work or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience totaling nine (9) years. Must be certified by the Florida Building Code Administrators & Inspector (BCAI) as a Standard Inspector - Electrical. A valid Florida Driver's License is required. Must pass a background check which includes a polygraph
