Job Description

Interested in leading multi-disciplinary project teams in the delivery of large-scale water conveyance and distribution system projects? Our Pipeline Rehabilitation team delivers pipeline and related-facility rehabilitation and construction projects, fundamental to Metropolitan’s core objective of providing a safe and reliable water supply to our customers. Projects are of moderate to high visibility and sensitivity, and involve contact with member agencies, permitting agencies, and community groups.

In this position you’ll apply your project management and engineering knowledge and experience, together with your initiative and leadership skills to help Metropolitan implement challenging water projects. You will prepare project proposals, schedules, and budgets; obtain internal funding and authorizations from senior management or Metropolitan’s Board; perform or direct planning, environmental, and scoping studies; lead projects through all their phases from design through construction and closeout; and address day- to-day management, monitoring and control of all project activities, scopes, schedules and budgets, and report on the same.

Schedule 44/36, Monday through Friday /Every other Friday off. Monday through Thursday 9 hours per day, 8 hours per day every other Friday. Start times are no earlier than 6 am and end times are no later than 6 pm.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and six years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Associate Engineer level; OR Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Associate Engineer level.

Relevant Experience is defined as: experience managing capital AND/OR public works projects, especially those related to water distribution systems; experience leading multi-discipline teams AND/OR experience in design AND/OR construction AND/OR project management with pipeline or related facility upgrades, rehabilitations or construction.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s):

• Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time
of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
• License in good standing as a California Professional Engineer (required at time of application).
