Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager (SSM) I, the Field Representative (FR) in the Live Scan Support Section performs training, audits and analytical support duties, including but not limited to: organizing and conducting on-site audits, inspections, and training to ensure compliance with State and Federal statutes, policies, and procedures regarding live scan; evaluating and monitoring compliance with quality assurance standards for live scan transmissions; and serving as a subject matter expert for the live scan devices and palm print capture workstations connected to the California Law Enforcement Telecommunications Network and the Applicant Communication Network. The FR serves as a liaison with varied clientele including: California’s criminal justice community, applicant regulatory agencies, the Department of Justice (DOJ) Peer/Vendor/Private Service Provider (PSP) business partners, and State departments.

The FR provides analytical and problem solving support for internal and external clients for live scan services and must maintain a thorough working knowledge of the DOJ’s multiple integrated processing applications in relation to live scan submissions by Types of Transactions (TOT). The FR conducts research analysis and provides consultative support to clients, section analysts, and DOJ leadership for the most complex Live Scan issues to resolve problems and enhance operations. The FR leads and/or participates in special projects and/or assignments, as assigned by management. In addition, the FR may represent the DOJ at meetings, forums, and training conferences.

Working Conditions

This position is designated for telework under Government Code section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California and may require reporting to headquarters or field offices and facilities to fulfill operational needs. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Justice policies.

This is a hybrid position with 4 days telework and 1 day in office each week.
