Are looking for your place to shine as a Human Resources professional? Missouri Veterans Commission is seeking an Assistant Director of Human Resources in our Headquarters office in Jefferson City. Recruitment, retention, and talent development are the key activities in this position. Our HR team is “Always on Mission” to support our 7 Veterans Homes, Veterans Service Program, and 5 Cemeteries statewide with their staffing and personnel needs. Salary: $76,000

Examples of Work

  • Coordinate statewide healthcare recruitment efforts
  • Analyze organizational data through spreadsheets, databases, and statistical reports to gauge recruitment results, strengths and growth opportunities
  • Collaborate with the leadership team in Headquarters and staff development coordinators to determine talent development needs
  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding process for agency and its programs
  • Engage Missouri Veterans Homes in conversations and activities around employee engagement and retention
  • Provide guidance to HR team related to time and payroll actions using SAMII and transition to MOVERS
  • Assist HR Director with personnel issues, policy development, position classification, and new initiatives/projects


Qualifications

Must demonstrate the following which may be obtained through work experience as a human resources professional or through completion of a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, communications or closely related program:

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of public human resources personnel administration, including best practices of employee engagement and retention, talent development, classification, compensation, employee and labor relations
  • Knowledge of designing and leading a recruitment program
  • Knowledge of the career continuum - recruitment, onboarding, evaluation, growth, retention, recognition, and offboarding
  • Knowledge of state government organization and functions

3+ years of relevant experience in human resources
