Several full-time positions available with the Health Department, Behavioral Health & Injury Prevention Division located at 2400 Troost Ave
Salary Range: $4,619-$6,928/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

  • Provides case management services to clients at high risk of violence.
  • Case management services will be according to a therapeutic psychosocial client-centered, solution-focused approach.
  • Identifies goals in key domains to help clients live safer and healthier lives.
  • Peace Partners will help the clients develop objectives to help them attain their goals.
  • Connects clients to needed social services and provides direct services when appropriate.
  • Referrals will be made to resources such as job placement, educational services, substance abuse programs, and health care.
  • Prepares reports on their activities, which they will deliver to the Focused Deterrence Governing Board and Health Department leadership.
  • Runs Partners for Peace meetings, working with community partners to refer survivors of violence and individuals close to violence to needed resources.
  • Comfortable working with and engaging in communities plagued by violence.
  • Provides outreach to survivors of violence and even individuals potentially participating in violence.
  • Builds relationships with clients ethically and safely, assists them in achieving goals, and assists them in stable, safe, and sustainable living within 90 days to deter violence.



Qualifications

REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree and 4 (OR an accredited Master's degree and 2) years of responsible health related experience in the fields of public health with the federal, state or local government or in the private health sector, including 1 year at the level of Public Health Specialist II; OR a doctorate in Veterinary Science, Health Education or Public Health or Doctor of Medicine (MD); OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience, including 2 years of experience at the level of Public Health Specialist II. Must possess a valid State -issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. Must pass a preemployment drug screen and post offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
