ABOUT THE JOB:
The Senior Store Clerk is responsible for the Department’s parts and inventory systems to support fleet maintenance operations. They procure parts, supplies, and fuel per government purchasing guidelines. They are responsible for the logistics of deliveries and returns, and prepare documentation of the department’s work orders, parts, and fuel data, for entry by accounting into the cost accounting system. They also serve as information quality control and assist Fleet Management as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintains the computerized inventory system for acquisition, dispensing, and inventory controls of parts and supplies used in the repair and maintenance of automotive and construction equipment.
  • Compiles all pertinent documentation for accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory received and dispensed, direct purchases, acquisition of fuel transfers, lease agreements, insurance billing, purchase orders and invoices.
  • Serves as the Department's contact to assist mechanics with fleet vehicle service and repair scheduling.
What You Will Bring:
Knowledge of or experience with:
  • Customer service standards and protocols.
  • Computer programs used in maintaining information for parts, work orders, labor, invoicing, and PM information.
  • Office principles and practices, computer software for word processing, spreadsheets, and inventory control.
  • Standard methods, materials, tools, equipment, and technology of the mechanic trade.
Skill in:
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers.
  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Promoting and enforcing safe work practices.
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers, citizens, developers, advocates, and regional agencies.

Compensation

COMPENSATION:
$4,569.71 to $5,833.67 per month for a 172.67-hour work month. Excellent County benefit package when eligible. This union-represented position is available immediately.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent;
  • AND three (3) years of experience in a parts or service department for the maintenance and repair of automotive or heavy equipment;
  • OR any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred Qualifications :
  • ASE Parts Specialist Store Clerk Certification.


Necessary Special Requirements

Driving is a requirement for this position. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license within 30 days of hire date. The employment offer will be contingent upon presentation of an acceptable and verifiable driver's license, pre-employment screening for criminal history, driving history, and controlled substances (NOTE: Positive test results for marijuana use may result in rescission of a contingent offer of employment). This screening must be completed with satisfactory findings in order for a formal offer of employment to be extended.

Ability to drive all County equipment and vehicles on roads. Must be able to drive and travel with equipment within city, county and public roadways, sometimes in adverse weather conditions.
