IT SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN II

In addition to performance-based merit increases, this position is scheduled to receive salary range increases on the following dates:

Effective June 28, 2024 - 4.25% increase

Effective June 27, 2025 - 4.00% increase

Salary may be negotiable within the range listed above, based on position requirements and successful candidate's qualifications, subject to appropriate authorization.

This recruitment is being held to establish an open eligible list to fill current and future vacancies in the Orange County District Attorney's Office. This recruitment may also be used to fill positions in similar and/or lower classifications throughout the County of Orange.

DISTRICT ATTORNEY-PUBLIC ADMINISTRATOR
The Orange County District Attorney-Public Administrator (OCDAPA) represents the People of the State of California in criminal and civil proceedings, serves the court and criminal justice system, and the Orange County Grand Jury. The mission of the Office of the Orange County District Attorney is to enhance public safety and welfare and to protect and respect crime victims and to create security in the community through the vigorous enforcement of criminal and civil laws in a just, honest, efficient and ethical manner.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The District Attorney's Office is seeking to hire a highly skilled IT Systems Technician II with experience, preferably within the public sector. The position requires a broad range of skills, including hardware and software installation, maintenance, and configuration. This position will perform a range of duties to ensure end-users are equipped with the tools and technology necessary to contribute to the agency’s mission.

Examples of duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Managing and maintaining user accounts
  • Providing help desk assistance (Tier 1) to customers for desktop computers, peripheral and related technology
  • Troubleshooting, evaluating and resolving a variety of routine computer hardware, software and peripheral equipment issues
  • Performing a variety of technical support work pertaining to the basic operation and maintenance of computers and peripheral equipment
  • Creating disk images, understanding and implementing desktop deployment strategies
  • Performing routine system backups, upgrades and/or other hardware/software support
  • Performing routine system support duties
  • Assisting higher-level information technology staff with the acquisition and distribution of computer hardware and software solutions
  • Monitoring and maintaining data storage
  • Managing and maintaining interfaces
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

CORE COMPETENCIES
The ideal IT Systems Technician II will possess professional experience, ability, and/or knowledge in the following core competencies:

Information Technology Knowledge I Software Application Experience
  • Microsoft Office 2016 & 365
  • Operating system, specifically Windows 10
  • Storage technologies and networking
  • Knowledge of wireless technologies including wireless laptops, tablets and mobile phones
  • Adobe Acrobat Standard & Professional and Microsoft System Configuration Manager
  • Knowledge of CLETS Application
  • Experience in communicating/opening tickets with hardware/software vendors

  • Identifying technical issues and problems that need resolving
  • Researching and implementing viable solutions
  • Analyzing, developing, and maintaining computers desktops and peripheral equipment

  • Soliciting feedback and adjusting customer requests to fit into business improvements
  • Generating consensus and collaborative relationships to bring about efficient and effective outcomes

IT Systems Technician II is the journey-level class in the IT Systems Technician series. Positions in this class are distinguished from IT Systems Technician I by the performance of the full range of duties under general supervision. Incumbents at this level work alone on routine or regular work assignments, checking with a supervisor on non-routine assignments or when in doubt as to the correct procedures to follow.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS District Attorney Human Resources will screen all application materials for minimum qualifications. After the initial screening, qualified applicants will be referred to the next step of the selection process. All applicants will be notified via email of their status in the process.

Structured Oral Interview | SOI (Weighted 100%): Applicants will be interviewed and rated by a panel of job knowledge experts. Each applicant's rating will be based on responses to a series of structured questions designed to elicit the applicant's qualifications for the job.

Eligible List: Once the assessment has been completed, District Attorney Human Resources will establish an eligible list of candidates. Candidates placed on the eligible list may be referred to a selection interview to be considered for present and future vacancies.

Based on the Department's needs, the recruitment process above may be modified. Candidates will be notified of any changes in the selection procedures.
