Job Description

Full-time position available with the Mayor's Office located at 414 East 12th Street
Salary Range: $5,794-$8,833/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., some weekend and after hours

Responsibilities

• Plans and execute events, large and small, on behalf of the Mayor's Office.
• Attends community events and staff Mayor Lucas at events.
• Coordinates Mayor's Office proclamations and special actions for Kansas Citians and Kansas City businesses to honor and/or celebrate.
• Acts as an additional link between the Mayor's office and the community keeping the lines of communication open.
• Ensures efficient communication of Mayor's priorities and plans to constituent groups.
• Works closely with Director of Administration, scheduler, communications, and policy to ensure programming events align with the Administration's short- and long-term goals.
• Serves as liaison between Kansas City's 311 Call Center and the Mayor's Office, helping ensure the City's front-line constituent communicators have relevant information to relay from the Mayor's Office at all times.
• Manages MayorQ@kcmo.org inbox, and follow-up telephonically and/or electronically with constituents who have shared comments with the Mayor's Office.
• Receives, summarizes, and conveys community member concerns to the Mayor's Office, especially from groups that feel they do not have a clear line of communication to City Hall.
• Assists City staff in resolving constituent issues.


Qualifications

REQUIRES an accredited bachelor's degree and experience in event planning or project management. Strong work ethic, ability to balance competing priorities while completing work on tight timelines, and work in a fast-paced environment. Please submit a resume, cover letter and three references.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
