THE POSITION:
Office Supervisor's supervise all administrative functions of a department including, but not limited to, budgetary activities, accounting, purchasing, payroll, data processing, and personnel operations. Incumbents perform a variety of secretarial and administrative duties which include responsibility for a significant segment of departmental business affairs, program administration and/or the coordination of departmental clerical/secretarial services.

The eligible list created as a result of this recruitment will be used to fill full-time and part-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur throughout the County. There are currently two vacancies in the Health & Social Services department, in the Administration division and the Welfare Administration - Special Investigations Bureau.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school diploma or GED; AND

Experience: Three (3) years of full-time work experience, including eighteen (18) months of experience in a lead capacity that demonstrates possession of and competency in the requisite knowledge and abilities.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants are required to demonstrate intermediate word processing skills and may be required to test at a typing ability 50 net words per minute. Demonstration of these skills will be done during the online typing and Word processing examination.

SELECTION PROCESS:
06/28/24- 5:00pm (PST) - Deadline to submit application and required documents.

07/15/24 (week of) - Tentative date for Typing, Word, and Online Skills exams.

Based on the information provided in the application documents, the qualified applicants may be invited for further examination and will either be pre-scheduled by the Department of Human Resources or be invited to self-schedule. All applicants meeting the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination . Depending upon the number of applications received, the selection process may consist of an initial application screening, a mandatory information meeting, a supplemental questionnaire assessment, a written and/or practical exam, an oral board exam, or any combination listed. Responses to supplemental questions may be used as screening and testing mechanisms and will be used to assess an applicant’s ability to advance in the process; as such, responses to supplemental questions should be treated as test examination responses. A minimum score of 70% is required for the Word processing exam and online written exam to continue in the selection process.

TYPING CERTIFICATE SUBMITTAL:

It must be a timed 3 - 5 minute test, include the gross number of words typed per minute, and the number of errors. VETERAN’S PREFERENCE POINTS:
To be eligible, applicant must have served at least 181 consecutive days of active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States and have received either an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions.
